| FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. What are the charges?
Monthly subscription is A$35 inc GST for the Sun TV channel. We collect the subscription quarterly in the first week of Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct. The amount is A$105 every three months. New Zealand customers will pay a quarterly subscription of A$100. One-time installation charges will be A$450 (currently offered at A$375) for metro towns in Australia. Higher charges will be applicable for Units, country areas and difficult buildings. Payments for will be charged by our installer, PMCS PTY LTD.
2. Is there a minimum contract period?
Yes. There is a 12 month contract. Subscribers will be liable for the balance fee, if the contract is terminated within the first 12 month period. Temporary suspension of contract will not be permitted. This requirement of minimum contract period is also applicable for rejoining customers.
When should we pay the first amount? or Are we required to pay when we apply?
Installation charges and first quarter subscription are to paid on approval of the application and before the installation is done. Subscription will be debited to your nominated credit card. Our installer PMCS PTY LTD will directly debit installation charges to your credit card.
3. I want to subscribe. What should I do?
You can visit our web page at www.suntvaustralia.com and down load the contract form and the terms and conditions. If you don't have access to internet, please provide us with your address and we will mail the form out to you. We can also fax it to you. Completed forms should be faxed to 02 8213 6186 and the original mailed to P O Box 884, Liverpool, NSW 1871.
4. What do we get as a part of the installation?
In a standard installation you will get a 85cm dish antenna, digital decoder and a smart card. Installation charges are included in this.
5. Can I get an additional point to the television in the bed room?
In a standard connection the decoder will be connected to one television only. Additional televisions within the same premises can be connected. There will not be any additional subscription charges. However there will be a one-time additional connection fee of A$100 per connection. You must write to us about your additional point requirement when you send your application.
6. We are moving houses in a month. What do we do?
If you are moving houses in a few months, you may choose to wait and get the connection in the new house or you may incur a re-location cost of A$180 to A$200. Alternatively you may engage your own installation for a lesser charge. In case of re- location you may use the same antenna, LNB, brackets, decoder and the smart card. However you may not be able to use the cabling.
7. We live in a block of Units. Can we receive Sun TV?
In a block of units, the antenna can be fixed on the roof and the cable taken down through the wall cavity. In some cases our installer may consider using a camouflaged flower pot antenna to be fixed in the balcony. The balcony should also allow the antenna to face northerly direction. 8. What kind of extra cost would we incur, living in Units?
Installation cost for units in a block with more than 2 floors will cost more. The cost would be approximately A$500 for balcony flowerpot and A$550 for roof mounting. In some cases prior inspection may be required. High rise towers and difficult buildings will be done on special quotation basis.
9. I have other Indian Pay TV Channels and would be like to receive Sun TV also. Is it possible?
Yes. It may be possible as long as the antenna is aligned to receive the signals from Optus D2 Satellite and you have a suitable decoder. How ever SUN TV will not take any responsibility for poor or no reception of SUN TV program while using your decoder.
You will need to purchase a SUN TV smart card for A$50 and make a quarterly payment of A$105.00 thereafter.
10. I want to make my own arrangements for the installation of the antenna and the decoders and I only need a Smart Card. How much it will cost and how can I order one?
Sun TV Australia advice you to use our accredited installers. In addition to maintaining uniformity and quality our installers provide decoders with special custom made software for remote upgrades and change in subscriber encryption. Other installers will not be providing such functionalities. This would result in you spending additional charges to rectify any problem with the subscriber encryption.
Sun TV Australia will not take any responsibility for any malfunction of the decoders, poor or no reception of the telecast or any technical difficulties if the antenna and decoder installation is not done by our accredited installers.
A) A Smart card will cost you A$50 for Australian customers.
B) Download and print the contract from and send it to us clearly mentioning that you only need the smart card.
11. How are you getting the program from India and will it be clear?
The program comes directly from India to Sydney. In Sydney the signals are sent to the Optus D2 satellite for telecast. The telecast is a digital transmission and hence will be very clear.
12. Will the program be recorded and edited before telecast?
No. What you see here is what people see in India see, without editing. Even the advertisements will be the same.
13. What do you mean by 18 hours time delay? Or will I see the program the same day as India?
Due to time difference between India and East coast of Australia we are delaying the telecast. In simple words the entire program will be delayed by a day. Eg. A program shown in India at 7am today will be shown at 6am the next day in Australia.
14. Will you be showing all the channels in Sun Network?
No.You will only receive SUN TV under this package. The audio channel is received through the television and is live from Chennai.
15. I have Optus Vision or Foxtel channel. Can I use the same antenna and decoder?
No.You need a separate decoder.Optus and Foxtel use 65cm antenna and the telecast format is different.
16. I have 3 mt diameter which I use to receive 'Pothigai' channel.Can I use it?
No.The big antenna is meant for "Free to Air" C-band telecast.Sun TV is a Subscriber channel using Ku- band.
17. I live in New Zealand and watch 'Sky Channel'.Can I use the same antenna and decoder?
No. Sky Channel decoders can not be used to receive Sun TV.
18. If I subscribe for Sun TV, can I also see ABC, SBS, BBC, Foxsports etc?
You can only receive Sun TV. However you can get a Number of 'Free to Air' channels on the Optus D2 satellite.Unfortunately, None of them are Tamil channels.
19. We live in New Zealand. Is there an agent whom we can contact?

20. Can I temporarily suspend my subscription?
You cannot suspend in the first 12 months of your contract. After completing 12 months you can suspend the subscription for up to 2 months in a block of 24 months.
21. Will you be sending me a monthly invoice?
No. This is a annual contract and no invoice will be sent.
22. I want to cancel my subscription, What should i do?
You can terminate the contract before the end of the quarter by giving 15 days of notice OR the notice should be writing and also the subscription smart card should be sent back to as on receipt of the above we will terminate the contract.
23. What is the warranty period for the dish and the decoder? What happens after warranty period?
Dish and the Decoder are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty period of 12 months. Beyond the warranty period subscriber will have to pay for the service charge and cost of the decoders. Service Charge is A$85. Cost of Decoder is A$140 for mailing within Australia and A$160 for mailing to New Zealand. We will charge A$180 for us to send an installer to replace a Decoder in Australian Metro cities.
24. Why Sun TV Subscription Charges are very high for one Channel. Foxtel and others charge less for more Channels?
Satellite providers charge a fixed amount every month irrespective of the number of subscribers, whether it one or 10000 subscribers. More the subscribers less will be the charges. Tamils population in Australia and New Zealand is very low and hence it is commercially not viable to charge very low subscription.
25. Why should I return the Smart Card when I have paid $50 at the time joining?
The amount you paid is for the subscriber management and other administrative costs and not for owning the smart card. The smart card always belong to us and it is as per our Terms and Conditions.
